Es uno de los centros más antiguos de España, Salus Infirmorum surge en 1940 como una asociación de enfermeras católicas fundada por María de Madariaga y constituida por catorce entidades de reconocido prestigio en el campo de la Enfermería en aquel momento, tanto del ámbito público como del privado. María de Madariaga aportó su experiencia de liderazgo durante sus catorce años en la militancia de la Juventud Católica Femenina para la creación y desarrollo de Salus Infirmorum, promoviendo e impulsando la Hermandad por todo el territorio nacional.
